Hello from Lake Erie

well every time i google something i end up on this site, so i suppose this is the place to be! reading through the forums ive already learned a lot and hope to learn a lot more.
i have lived in titusville florida, charleston south carolina, and lorain ohio. so i have kinda grown fond of the water (so have my 2 daughters). we would like to start sailing soon. i am enrolling in sailing school this spring, and then hope to do some crewing to get some time and miles under my belt, so i can take them out in a few yrs. any advice WILL be appreciated no matter how small it is. thank you in advance to everyone that helps me on my journey.

Welcome aboard. Sounds like a good plan those sailing lessons and some crewing time. Are your daughters going to be enrolled in the sailing lessons as well?

thank you, they are 9 and 11, they wont be going with me during the course i take this spring but we will go through classes before they get out on the water. they have saved over $300 in change to buy a sailboat so their heart is in it. i give them $10 a week for doing all their chores without complaining and everytime they say "just put it with the sailboat money" lol.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I taught my daughter to sail when she was 9. She loved it. I let her sail wherever she wanted (within reason) in the dinghy, and 8' Naples Sabot. Great little boat. I'd recommend a Sunfish if you can chip it some more cash.
kind regards,
