Hello from LA

I am a medical student in New Orleans, and I have basically zero experience with sailboats. I have always wanted to sail and have decided that now is as good a time as any to start. I hope to find a suitable boat to live aboard with my finance, learn to sail, and ditch this dorm room.

Welcome to the Forum, silent.

A good way to get started is to find a local sailing club. Check out the "member club" listing of the Gulf Yachting Association for clubs nearby: Gulf Yachting Association

Aloha Silent,
Welcome aboard! I believe you probably have been evacuated so won't be in your dorm room when this arrives. I hope you weather the storm and can join us again soon.
Kind regards,
JohnL

I weathered the storm fine. You were right to assume I was evacuated. I made it out o.k. and I just got back into NO this a.m. There was no major damage to the campus that I know of, and everything appears to be returning to normal. Thank you for your concern.
