Hello from Halifax

1st summer back sailing in 30 years. purchased great boat, Mirage 27, "other captain" getting used to sailing, she's doing well. Looking for any other Mirage 27 owners for advice and info on these boats.

Good to hear from someone from one of my all time favorite harbours in the word! Great friendly town! Welcome.

Re: Hello from Halifax

thx, cant be accountable for all the friendlies but we are hospitable bunch. Jolly Tars back in the olden days!! lots of dock space still downtown, need a "free" parking pass from the city and you can drop in to your favorite watering place for lunch or whatever, and not too much harbor traffic either.

Welcome to the forum neighbour, with apologies for my tardiness. My first keelboat was a Mirage 27 and I have very fond memories of her. Lovely lines, well built, and not a bad sailer. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Howdy and Welcome Aboard!

I hope to see NS someday.

I like maritime history and that part of the world is interesting to me.

Re: Hello from Halifax

Hello Halifax,
I'm a fellow "Blue-noser" as well although I currently live in the SF Bay area. I used to work in Halifax at one of the big towers on the waterfront. It was great as it gave me an opportunity to walk the docks at lunchtime and see all of the boats and people. A cruise on the Dartmouth Ferry is still the best deal in town and the Maritime Museum always has something interesting going on.
We leave for our big cruise in a couple of years and Halifax is definitely on the list of great places to visit.

Welcome to the crew. When I'm not sailing, I'm around Halifax too.

Re: Hello from Halifax

Greetings from the far south. While I do not currently live in NS I do own 21 acres next to the Bras d'Or lake outside of Sydney NS. I hope to sail from Florida into the Bras d'Or one day.

Re: Hello from Halifax

Nova Scotia has some great sailing , especially along the south shore . I have a similar plan to take my boat up there for a cruise in a few years. I'm told that sailing the Bras d'Or Lakes is a unique experience. One of my favorite authors, Farley Mowatt had a summer home there near St Peter's for many years as did Alexander Graham Bell so you are I good company.
