Hi folks, quick message just to say hi. We are currently sat in that little soggy country on the north west corner of the United States of Europe but an escape plan is being formed for 5 years time

Many thanks for the welcome. We were going away for the weekend afloat and the weather looked good but Viv said its a bit windy. Went down the boat to work on the battery charger instead. Turned out really windy with gusts to F7. Switched the VHF on only to find Solent and Portland coastguards have been dealing with May Days all afternoon. Hope everyone gets home okay.

I'd planned an excursion up the mast. Postponed it. And stayed tied up.
Sailing out of Southampton can often be deceptive as you hit the unprotected Solent.
Try logging into 'bramble.net' for current weather and sailors links. Very usefull.
Based in Quayside Marina at £4 a foot. Good pontoons but not much in facilities but it's full and well run with frequent cranage, water and tool power free.
Just got the bits back to reconnect prop to engine so looking forward to some NICE weather and trip over to the Folly again. Building my hours slowly and learning fast.

Thanks folks, sunny here too 70f, been blackberry picking this afternoon, managed about 4lbs before the brambles got too much. Summer puddings and apple pie baking tomorrow

Found the battery charger works but it is only 8 amps takes forever when powered by the little honda generator (we don't have shore power or water on the pontoon) . So ripped it out and plan to replace it with a 30 amp modern 4 phase thingy. Legs went wobbly when the Chandler told me the price Still we do need quick charging to avoid running the main engine or the genny for any length of time in harbour, a bit antisocial.
