Hello from Dunedin - New Zealand

Hello to all
We joined last year as we went about rebuilding the "Volvo" after oil pump failure. Based in Dunedin we venture as far south as Stewart Island but desire adventures further afield. We have a 10M custom built mast head sloop, big volume and brilliant for the coastal stuff we have done to date. Two weeks ago while on anchor up the coast we had a Southern Right whale and calf encircle us, priceless. Its supposed to be summer here but the forecast on the news is talking snow showers down to 400M.
Safe sailing
Paul & Robyn

Paul and Robyn, Welcome aboard! For several years, Marilyn and I spent a couple weeks each "spring" in NZ and have seen the gamut in weather... Our rule when traveling NZ was to pack everything because the weather will change one way or the other. Am curious.. have you sailed the west side of the South Island? Only did a tour boat in Milford Sound... Seems like it would be heaven on earth to cruise there. Spent any time in Marlborough Sounds area?

Good luck and look forward to hearing back from you

Hi Paul & Robyn,

Like Tom and Marilyn we would really like to learn more about sailing around the south island. We will be in NZ in one year and really want to explore the south island and Steward. I have purchased the cruising guides to Friodland and Steward Isalnd.

Maybe see you sometime...
