Hello from Charleston, SC

Dear Cruisers Forum members,

I am a new member from the Lowcountry city of Charleston, SC. I contribute frequently to the Ericson Yacht Owners forum. I love the Ericson family, but would also like to speak with the many different owners of the many different boats worldwide on this forum concerning their experiences. I have benefited much as a passive viewer of different threads and would now like to make some contributions of my own.

All the best,
Roscoe

Howdy Roscoe. Welcome to the boards.

I too am in Charleston (for the moment). Good to see another lowcountry resident on here.

Not familiar with an Oyster named Viking IV, but will keep an eye out for her.

Alexei, I enjoyed reading your blog. Sorry that you're having to put your cruiser up for sale . . . but your reasons make sense. Good luck with your move to your new locale and your new position on the Navy sub. Thank you, sir, for your service.

Best,
Roscoe

Greetings from an Ericson 35 on the hard in N. Chas.

Nice to run across another Ericson owner in Charleston. We are here for a while replenishing the cruising kitty and are taking advantage of the time to work on the hull, decks and interior. The forums are proving an invaluable source of information as we make decisions on how to tackle our projects. Glad you said hello.

Welcome to the forum. Afraid I don't know a thing about Ericson yachts, they're not common here in the UK, but I did recently spend a few days in your city whilst on holiday in the USA and I thought it one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been in. The nearest we got to yachting was taking a boat trip round the harbour. Also went to the Magnolia Gardens, it was Spring - fantastic.

Thanks Hud, Greenflash, and Jim for your warm welcomes. Thank you as well Jim for your compliments on Charleston. Wish that I will one day make it to Britain. I've always wanted to go. It seems many from the other side of the Atlantic are attracted to Charleston, as its downtown architecture is so different from other cities in the States. Greenflash, how long to do think you might be in Charleston? If you're up to it, I wouldn't mind stopping by to take a look at your Ericson 35 while you're around. Would love to see in what ways the E35 resembles the E25.

Best,
Roscoe

Let's Trade Visits

Absolutely would love to have you take a look at Green Flash. In return, we would also be interested in taking a look at your 25. In fact, there are a few specific items of interest, and we were walking the docks downtown today checking out other boats for ideas on our bow pulpit and anchor roller system. We're beefing up our bulkheads and cabinetry in the V-berth and main cabin, and are still researching things like foam spacers and techniques to reduce creaking noises in heavy seas. We're also (finally) getting to the point of some creature-comfort decisions. Taking a look at another Ericson would be awesome.

Anyway, we'll send you a private message with contact info -- don't want to break any rules, if there are any, about posting phone numbers, etc. Check your private inbox.

Aloha and Welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. I've had friends with Ericsons but never been aboard one. From what I hear they are pretty good boats and one friend has sailed his interisland here several times.
regards,
