Hello from Central Med!

Hi all,

First time posting on this resourceful forum. Lot's of valuable info here - keep it up!

I am a 30yr old male from Malta, been cruising around our archipelago on my 20ft motor boat for a few years. I am now looking forward to purchase my first sailing boat and hopefully start cruising around the Med. I have very little sailing experience so far (had a few sessions with an amateur racing team a few years back) but am about to apply for the RYA courses.

I would appreciate any guidance from your end, such as sail boat buyer's guide, what to look for, what are the necessities, so on and so forth.

PS. If there is anyone with a sailing boat on the island looking for a crew member just drop me a PM.

Thanks

Re: Hello from Central Med!

I know nuthing about boats in the Med , but welcome to the site . When ya get your boat I want to come and stay on your boat if you will buy me a plane ticket and food . I have studied the siege of Malta for years and when you send me my tickets I can come and crawl all over them castles and forts .
Welcoming you and thanking you in this one post . Coach seats are O.K. but first class would be nice !

Welcome aboard. there is plenty of good information here. Malta sounds like a great place to start your sailing adventures. Good luck.

Hi... Welcome to CF...
Dunno if he's still there but a friend of mine on a steel Van de Stadt 37 named Le Enjoulise was there a couple of weeks back with a shot gearbox... light blue hull and cream topsides...
If you see him say 'Hi from Phil the Boatman'...
His name is Patrice and he may well be happy for a friendly face and some local knowledge of good engineers etc..
