Hello from Canada!
Hello, I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, but moving out to Nanaimo, BC next year to buy a livaboard. I thought I would get a jump start on information and learn as much as I can before moving and buying. I am really enjoying the forum so far and cannot wait to finally have a boat myself!
Greetings, and thank you!

Re: Hello from Canada!
Welcome aboard! We have great cruising friends from both Alberta and Nanaimo. Good luck with the boat search...you'll get lots of help here.

Re: Hello from Canada!
Welcome Cthulhu, I'm from North of you (the Mac) and have a boat moored in Nanaimo. Still have almost 2 years before I move permanently. Plenty of liveaboard there.

Re: Hello from Canada!
Welcome, a little late I guess but welcome anyway. We're from Saskatchewan (you know, where the Grey Cup lives now). We spend about 4 or 5 months onboard Gray Hawk which is currently moored in Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island. Lots of liveaboards in Cow Bay if you find yourself looking for a place to call home.

Re: Hello from Canada!
Hey, welcome aboard from another Canadian crew, recent boat-owners. It was a major pain in the aft finding "the best boat", took us months driving around.
What boat are you considering?

Re: Hello from Canada!
Hello, and thank you for the welcome! I'm not looking for anything specifically yet, A sailboat 38-60 ft and up (previously owned) or possibly a cruiser of some sort. That's one of the main reasons I joined the forum was so I could ask around and see the pros and cons of different boats, and what liveaboard folks like.

Also...welcome from another Edmontonian! I'm presently living/working in Singapore where we have a 38 ft power boat and await our new Lagoon 450 in Feb 14 for Liveaboard/cruising. Eventually we'd like make it up to the Straits of Georgia and beyond.
Lots os success with your plans.

Re: Hello from Canada!
Welcome fellow Canuck and Albertan.
Nanaimo is a good jumping off spot for just about all of the PNW.
I have some contacts in Nanaimo.
I might recommend that you charter some boats with different layouts to see what suits you.
