Hello from Beijing

Hi, I'm originally from Boston, and have been living in China for the last six years, more or less. I'm looking for my next adventure and thought I'd get started by sailing my way out of here, wherever that leads me.

I'm thinking to begin I may head down to Hong Kong and see if I can pick up with any ships that need crew. Aside from sailing Sunfishes around lakes, I don't have much experience in this area, so I'm looking to learn as much as I can. Any tips are much appreciated!

Regards,

Joel

Re: Hello from Beijing

Hi Joel, welcome to the forum. I was in Beijing yesterday, nice city to be based in. The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club run a few offshore races but at $HK47,000 Ordinary Individual Member joining fee it's an expensive way to get on a crew list. Best of luck, and if you find any yachts sailing out of Shenzen, please let me know.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good luck on finding crew positions. I think there is a section here on this forum for that.
Sunfish are great boats. The most popular design for recreational boating ever.
kind regards,

Re: Hello from Beijing

What good fun!!! Don't they have a yacht club or marina in Beijing where you could start? (Beijing is near the sea, what?)
