Hello from Beautiful B.C.

The two of us (my gal Sally and I ) are just at the point of planning our retirement and we have decided to give the world of sailing a try.
We live in a small town of 60 people ( Bralorne) north of whistler b.c. Canada
The only sailing experience I have is on small hobbies craft but I have been around boats all my adult life.
We are signed up for beginners courses out of Vancouver to teach us the basics and then as quick as possible we will doing as many advanced courses as possible.
Really excited about our new lifestyle commitment and stoked to find this forum on the Internet to help us with our sailing education.
We are considering a catamaran (leopard 44-46 foot) for our new home away from home.,so please if there is any recommendations on this boat or similar they would be greatly appreciated.
Happy sailing and if we don't meet on the water at least we can meet on cruisers forum
Cheers

Welcome to CF Bsimon (and Sally)!

Can't help you cat questions, I'm a one hull fan myself. I'm sure a multi-hull fan will chime in soon.

Welcome to the forum. If you decide to take your lessons from Cooper, on Granville Island, see if you can get Marla as an instructor, she is fantastic and a lot of fun. If you do, make it a point to have her contact me and all three of you would be welcome as my guests at the False Creek Yacht Club for a wee nip and a chance to meet many Vancouver area sailors.

Re: Hello from beautiful B.C.

Welcome Bsimon Good to see fellow BC'ers on board. Second Shorebirds comments about Cooper (wife and I learned to sail with them 25 years ago) and Marla (she would be a lot of fun as an instructor)
Want to learn on a cat? Call them I know they have one available

Re: Hello from beautiful B.C.

We are signed up with Colin Campbell from Bewley sailing but I would be interested in contacting Marla especially if they have a cat for another course
Do you have contact info for her?
Thanks for the help

Re: Hello from Beautiful B.C.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
That's a lot of boat for a couple. Yes, I'd recommend a cat specific course if you can find one or at least and introduction to the way they handle comparatively to monohulls.
kind regards,
