Hello from Beausoleil!

First post on this forum - I can't believe I hadn't found it before now. My name is Jon, and my wife Shawna and I bought a 1979 Formosa 51 aft cockpit ketch last year. We've just spent the off-season refitting her with a new Westerbeke 4cyl turbo 126hp engine, new shaft, 300 gals worth of diesel tankage, new electronics, new canvas. The old teak decks had already been replaced with balsa-cored fiberglass, and the spruce masts with new Selden heavy-duty aluminum. We're readying the boat for its first real cruise since we delivered her from Annapolis to Mass Bay north of Boston. We're cruising up to Acadia National Park in Maine - Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Burnt Coat, Bar Harbor - should be fun since it's our first cruise up to Maine after sailing Long Island Sound and Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Looking forward to it!!!

Welcome to the Forum!!! I cruised up in that 'Downeast' area for two weeks ... LONG LONG time ago. Really liked it! I'm sure you will too.

We sailed out of NW Harbor - rented a Hinkley 36(ish). Wound up hitting a lot of little islands (not literally) .. got over to Mount Desert Isl. Some good memories.
