Hello from Atlanta

Dear all,

Grew up in St. Petersburg boating and fishing. Have family that live on the coast of South Carolina now and absolutely love it there. Looking to hopefully get over there for good and get back into boating/sailing. Going to live vicariously through this community and your adventures in the meantime! Looking forward to building some community/friendships.

Re: Hello from Atlanta

Welcome to the forum from a former Atlanta resident. You know it's not far to Lake Lanier and there's lots of sailboats on the lake. Not quite like cruising to the Caribbean but still lots of fun and it is a beautiful lake, especially in the fall when the leaves change. Don't see colors like that in the Bahamas.

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah I know it's not too far but just haven't found a friend to sail with or reasonable price to rent a sailboat for the day. If you know of any, would love to hear! In college, I would go out to lake Martin in Alabama to sail with some of the older guys that wanted extra hands in races on Saturday mornings. Would love to find a situation like that to get my feet wet again.

Re: Hello from Atlanta

No personal experience but there are several sailing clubs on the lake and I think you can even rent or charter sailboats. Haven't lived there for 30 years so am just a little out of touch. Bet someone on the forum will have a better idea.

Welcome to the forum. I live in Alanta and sail actively on Lanier. I am a member of a couple of clubs. We have cruising on the lake as well
As one if the most active racing schedules in the country. I would be happy to take you sailing and introduce you around. I know folks that sail everything from A cats to 47 foot cruisers. Send me a PM if you are interested. It is a great sailing community.
