Hello from a total newbie!

Hey! I kept finding myself in these forums in my search for information, so I decided to join up.

My husband and I are planning on leaving land and living at sea while traveling the world. He knows much more than I do as his family started a similar adventure aboard the Ring Anderson before it sank.

I don't know anything about the sea or sailing and I'm here to learn! Pleased to meet and learn from you all!

Re: Hello from a total newbie!

Welcome to the forum, Pygmalion, and don't worry about the transformation, it will happen in due course, if it is your desire.

There's heaps of men here, and there are beginning to be more and more women represented, as skippers, or co-skippers.. Women who have been around here the longest include Seaworthy Lass, SailorChic34, zeehag Prairie Chicken, gamayun, who is more recent, and some others, I don't internet-know all of them. Sea Dreaming is sometimes written by the woman, sometimes, it sounds like the guy, keeps you guessing.

Jim and I left the US for foreign shores for the first time, 30 yrs. ago today. However, we didn't have our financial ducks lined up, and had to return to work for one more year, and sell a house. Been in the South Pacific not long after March of '89, for a fair wee while.

Long time ago, now, but you will find people here sensitive to your needs, mainly. There are a few mysogynists, too, but that only serves us to remember how they think, and they are out here in the world, too.

Ann, "just plain Ann, no "e""

Welcome to CF!

Ann

Re: Hello from a total newbie!

Thank you! I'm looking forward to learning all I can from everyone's experience. It'll be a couple years yet before we're able to go, so I'm taking the opportunity to learn as much as I can.

Good to know I won't be the only woman here!

Py, Do you like camping? Are you content being alone or in silence? Do you like nature? Do you like sunshine? Do you like to eat different / odd foods? Are you a risk taker? Is your marriage strong?
