Hello from a Newby Wannabee

My husband and I took a sailing cruise while at the beach (Gulf Shores)and have now caught the bug. We are making plans to take sailing lessons at the lake near our house (Lanier, GA) So I've joined the forum to research our future sailing adventures. The school we are looking at has a club as well which we can join and utilize their fleet once finished with the first class BKB 101 I believe. Anyway Hello all, hope to be adding boat info to profile soon.

Why didn't I check out this sailing thing sooner.

Welcome aboard. I hope you realize that this desease can only be cured by the infusion of a lot of dollars, learning a lot of interesting vocabulary to call various boat equipment when it fails, sitting in the cockpit at sunset and other unspeakable chores. lol

Welcome aboard. I've never sailed a day in my life and I've got the bug, so you must have it bad. Good luck with everything and it would be nice to hear from newbies about your learning experiences.

Re: Hello from a Newby Wannabee

I have had five sailboats, but this one weighs as much as all others put together... I used to race cars... have gone over 250 miles and hour, but let me tell you.... sailing,... heeled over about thirty, and look over the water and see a gust coming.... If that don't make your pulse quicken..... get a heart transplant.....

Re: Hello from a Newby Wannabee

just get out and "Do it.....".... There is a sailing instructor on Lake Chelan, and he has a nice sailboat.... every time he went out..... I would go out and follow him in every wind and condition.... this is the most miserable lake to sail on... either washing the windows or just bobbin.... I would follow russ and try to catch him.... when I could finally pass him........ I called myself a sailor, and never looked back.... don't get me wrong.... passing someone is not like sailboat racing... that is a whole nuther education.... and the "Start" of the race is usually your plight...
