Hello from a new member and boat owner

Hello. I've recently been bitten by the big time cruising bug and bought a boat. She's a Norseman 447, and we are in Long Beach, CA. We have a lot to learn before any significant passages, but I've no doubt that it will happen.

I'm very interested in meeting others who have changed their lives by taking to the sea, and particularly others with Norseman experience.

Welcome to the forum Realtime.
I don’t have any Norseman experience (got some OARS-MAN experience)
Would love to see some pics of your boat.
I think new members have to tell a short story....or sing a song?
I could be wrong!
Welcome

Aloha Real,
Welcome aboard! I can tell that you've been bitten by the sailing bug in a big way by the size of your big boat. Congratulations and I recommend some courses before going out on the briney blue unless you are already a sailor.
Kind regards,
JohnL

Thanks. And don't worry, I have some (dated) experience and I've given myself a lot of time. Doing a lot of pretty serious reading right now, and digging into a lot of places on the boat that I'd never thought about before.

Regards,
Realtime

Thanks for the warm welcome. I posted a picture in the Norseman 447 "Photos" folder - the first one - that seems to have a shot of all the boats.

As for singing a song or telling a story, I'll sing sometime when we can sing together.

Thanks again -
Realtime

Wow Realtime...what a lovely vessel. Welcome to the forum. I'll bet you can't wipe that proud smile from your face yet.

Hi Realtime,

3 years ago my wife and I bought a 40' boat. She had never sailed before and I had about 25 years before (near you..Marina Del Rey). We took lessons, read a lot and even though I had a job in Belgium I loved I quit the beginning of 2006. Since then we have learned to sail and have learned a lot about our boat. We cruised northern Europe, across the Bay of Biscay, south to the Med and last year cruised around the western Med. Then in October went to the Canary Islands, Cape Verdes and across the Atlantic to the Caribbean.
We love this life! It really is better than working!
Next year we will head for New Zealand.

Have fun.. you have a great boat to do whatever you want. I hope you have as much fun as we are.

Enjoy,
Jim

New Adventure

Jim - Your post is an inspiration. Your web site and your boat are beautiful, and you have done what we want to do. I'll be following your continued progress.

Smooth sailing,
Bob and Karyn on Realtime
