Hello forum sailors

We are new to the cruising/sailing family. We bought a 10m Catalac a little over a year ago, a step up from the 14' hobie. We live in the coastal N.C. area and our playground is the Pamlico sound/ Neuse river. Our experience has been improving alot lately. We had our first succesful venture/ GPS exercise to Ocrocoke & back, of course, a few weeks ago. IT WAS GREAT!
My wife has grown up around sailing and I'm an ex-coastie engineer, U.S.C.G. I have had lots of motor boats over the years, but this is only our 2nd sailboat. Big step I think from 14' to 34' ,but believe the sea is calling us.
Anyway, enjoying reading all the input in the forum, hope to learn more. We have learned much from my fatherinlaw's 50+ years experiance ( I think he is Popeye's second cousin, but he won't admit to it). Got the bug bad back in 2001 when we hung out on his 38' Roberts in Tobago- Trinidad for a couple weeks. When we returned from that trip we knew we wanted to be cruisers. We are planing a 6 week cruise up the Pamlico around Roanoke Is. and back down the Albarmarle this summer and if all goes well, pack it in fall of 2009 heading out for what we hope to be a great life adventure. Eventually / hopefully to end up somewhere in the Carribean. We appreciate any input you have to offer and I'm sure over time have lot's of questions.
Best regards to all!
Clif & Peta

Welcome aboard Cliff & Peta!
“Immanuel” is one “giant” step up from a Hobie 14.

Welcome,

Most sailors only get 2 footitus. Jumping 20 feet is huge. Once the bug bites it becomes a thirst hard to quench. BEST WISHES in forming your plans, and getting out there.

Welcome aboard. We hare catamaran sailors in the New Bern area. Maybe we will meet on the water here or further south.
