Hello Fellow Boaters!

Hi - Just joined this forum today. I've been sailing on and off for 40-45 years. (Basically as soon as I could climb aboard my folk's 40 foot racing sloop.) I was a cruising kid growing up - they called it "leisure sailing" back then. But, I also did a fair amount of racing in CA, and last summer got my feet wet on a Schooner a couple of times in Maine. (That's where I escape whenever I have more than 3 days off at a time.)

I am in the process of getting divorced, and am thus a newly single mom of a 7 year old, happy and active boy. Right now, I am just in the "gathering info stage", but am hoping to fulfill my dream of becoming a "live aboard" within the next year. Finalizing the divorce comes first, then selling house, then buying boat…

Anyway, I am glad to see that I am not the only woman looking to live this wonderful life solo…. though, not sure how many single moms on the water with a kid…? (Please feel free to pipe in and introduce yourselves…)

I'll be checking the "crew wanted" forum next, so I can get on the water this Spring/Summer/ Fall when opportunities present themselves.

Re: Hello Fellow Boaters!

Howdy and welcome!

I know if I were a kid I would LOVE to grow up on a boat (I dreamed of that when I was a kid).

There are a lot of very experienced female sailors and cruisers here.

Best wishes for your future sailing!
