Hello everyone

Hello,

My name is Jeremy. I am a 40 y/o Geologist living and working in Nevada. I am originally from Oregon and miss the ocean very much. I have zero sailing experience but over the next two or three years will be taking sailing lessons with my family and saving for a home on the water.

If possible we plan on moving somewhere we can sail more regularly and get experience prior to diving in to buying and living on a sail boat.

In the mean time I will be reading books and forum posts to expand my knowledge. I hope to learn from everyone here.

My family likes to dive so that will be a large part of our lifestyle while on the boat. I look forward to reading your posts and learning from everyone.

Be safe out on the water,

Jeremy

Welcome to CF Jeremy and good luck to you and yours . And Kudos to your thoughts about living on a sailboat . In the mean time , I don't know how close you are to lake Mead but a couple of my buddies have Catalina 30's there and love it .

Thanks Markwesti,

I am about 7 hours drive away from Lake Mead. I am closer to Tahoe and even closer to Salt Lake City. I am in the middle of no where to say the least.

Re: Hello everyone

G'day Jeremy... welcome aboard.
A little bit of advice from someone who bought a yacht on eBay, sight unseen...
Yachts are built to be sailed in, not to sit in ports to rot away.
A lot of would-be sailors rot in port along with their boats that they are forever upgrading, fixing, etc etc...
Find your boat, and as long as it has adequate safety equipment... just go sail the f***a, that will tell you what needs to be done to make it good for a longer voyage.
