Hello Everybody

Hey,

I'm relatively new to sailing, but am seriously interested. I am a 23 yr. old living in Philadelphia and working as a backpacking and canoe instructor for Outward Bound. Many of my co workers either sail or are sailing instructors for Outward Bound and their adventures are amazing. I see myself exploring Chile in the winter for a couple months, maybe do some backpacking or sea kayaking, and sailing down there would be much more exciting than flying down. Anyways if anybody could maybe point me the right direction in finding a crew heading to south america would be very helpful, as I am kinda new to this whole process.

Thanks and good travels,

Timmy

Re: Hello Everybody

Hi Timmy. I'm in the land of Oz, so can't help you with a ride. Here is as good a place as any to ask. But a good way is to stick a note on the notice boards of your local yacht clubs with your contact details. If you get a ride, follow instructions and be helpful at everything around the boat. Ask questions of others around the area about the skipper and the boat. Most are OK, but you have to be sure if you're going offshore with a stranger. And don't be afraid to peel off if you have reservations. You want a sound boat fit for purpose and a skipper with a reasonable personality.
