Hello Azores Calling

Good evening everyone!

My wife and I have just registered and joined this forum. We found it due to recommendations when we downloaded OpenCPN. We are more and more impressed with that Nav Program with it's easy handling and working on all operating systems even on our new installed Windows 7. We have had MaxSea for years and it was OK as long as we stayed with Win XP, but became more unstable with Vista and absolutely impossible with Win 7.

Anyway, we are a retired couple living onboard our sailing boat since 4 years now. We have done the Mediterranean now and had a summer cruise from Malaga (Spain) up to Sweden, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Spain and ending up in the Azores for the winter 2009-2010. We have a website where you can follow our preparations for the life on-board from 1998.

What we have seen so far on this forum is the abundance of knowledge from long time cruisers from all over the world. In our case we need all advice we can get from experienced sailors for our future sailing plans. next year we plan to set course from the Azores to the south part of South America to cruise Patagonia. We think this route will be more intersting than the usual Caribbean and Panama Canal crossing to the Pacific.

Well, we shall, no doubt, meet somewhere on a forum page here, wanting more info on certain topics or maybe sharing info we know about.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. I just recently realized that OpenCPN is a navigation system. I'll start reading the thread now.
regards
