Hello and Another Newbie

we are justing starting out to go crusing, that being my wife and two of my four sons.We Livein Country Qld ( Kingaroy)Australia, and are in the process of buy our yacht. That being a 45 to 50 footer.
We are selling our house and cars, and all the other chattels to embark on our new life.
We plan on sailing the East Coast of Qld and doing the Harvest trail stopping at suitable anchorages/moorings and working our way around the country. My wife will be home schooling our boys, age 14 and 9 and we will give them what I consider a real education. We have had enough of having all the goodies and paying huge rego/insurances and other cost associated with owning a rural property, along with me working 6 days a week just to feed the beast.
So we are off, early stages at this point, but we have looked at several yachts, but we want to be sure of what we purchase.

Any advice that you may have and have experienced similar circumstances, we would love to hear from you.
Im ex Royal Australian Navy, a fair few years ago, so will be looking forward to getting my sea legs back.

Would enjoy other peoples experiences and pitfalls that maybe of help.

Look forward to many more yarns.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
It's good to have you here.
In my point of view the hardest thing to do is let go of all the land based stuff.
kind regards,
