Hello All! New to the Board, and New to Sailing.

And looking forward to absorbing as much info as possible from as many of the knowledgeable members of this great community. I am an FNG (freakin new guy) so please excuse my ignorance . We all gotta start somewhere. Luckily I think I am am off to a pretty good one. I am the proud new owner of a Catalac 9M that was lived aboard for the better part of a decade by people that enjoyed and took care of her. While some areas need attention it is fairly well rigged to do what I want it to do. I do have some mechanical aptitude as I have been an auto tech for about 15 years. After working in dealerships and shops swinging wrenches, I ran my own shop focused on metal fabrication and performance drag race oriented stuff. So at least I know which way a nut turns. Other that that, this is a new world to me. And I feel the same way people that know nothing about cars must feel when they walk around one. But, I wanna just ditch on society as I know it for awhile. I do have one friend with some experience in my pocket, but that is it. And you guys. So, cheers from Clear Lake Shores, TX.

Newsong,
Concrats on the catalac. We are proud owners of a 10m catalac. they are a solid boat. Similar to you I am reasonably mechanical, somewhat new to sailing. This is a great forum. We have owned ours 4 years now . No regrets.

Thanks alot guys. I am pretty excited. Unicorn Dreams, I have nothing to compare it to but I like it. It's clean, the amenities are pretty rockstar, staff is friendly, and so are the folks on my pier. If ya see me out and about don't be a stranger.

Slick rig, Immanuel. From what I've found Catalac owners are a pretty loyal group. I've always liked having something a little different in a ride. This fits the bill. Plus the reputation of sturdiness is assuring.

NEW SONG

I looked at your boat about 2 yrs ago when the other owner had her up for sale. Ready to write the check when he took it off the market. Liked the upgraded engines, twice factory HP.

Have you met George on your pier? He's down on the left side of your pier. Number 25, a great source of local workers if you need.
If you meet him, tell him Tom with the 43' Gulfstar he helped a year ago said HI.

Re: Hello All! New to the Board, and New to Sailing.

Oh wow. Small world. Yeah, It's kind of a hot rod. From what I gather a 36 HP 30' boat is like a 1000 HP street car. Necessary? No. But is it nice to have the option of laying black stripes on the highway at 70? Yes. I have one of the 20b Two's out of it. I wish my machine shop would hurry up and get it on. But that's machine shops for ya. Parts availability seems to be kind of an issue. But after this if I can keep them going for awhile I should be ok. Yep, I've met George. Sharp dude. Hope I don't bug him too much. I'll tell him hello for you.

Awww... now you've gone and made me blush. Thanks for the complement on my website. I will say that Catalacs are great boats and their owners are indeed a tight bunch...
