Hello All

just joined but I'm a pretty old hand at most of the mechanicals on sailboats and powerboats, had a shop in Florida for 17 years where I was the major subcontractor for Gulfstream yachts, we built to 63 feet, also my shop did all sorts of sailboat and powerboat modifications and repairs in the local boat yards, I built a 45 foot commercial fairalight sailboat Hull from scratch back then for use in the lobster trade in South America, I'm now involved with a Erwin 45 that is owned by a friend of mine, just about a ground up restoration it was in pretty bad shape, installed Perkins 4108 to replace the piece of junk Volvo that was in it along with the transmission and now are starting on the interior and rigging and electrical and plumbing and and and. A labor of love I guess.
Anyway I've got a whole bunch of Marine goodies I need to get rid of that I've gathered over the years and I'll be posting them here as I get to them.
First item up is a Perkins 107 with 300 hours on it, after that I'll start digging through the 1 ton truck with 2 tons of crap in it.
Regards: Bill K

Re: hello all

sorry yes a Perkins 4-107, with a total of 300 hours on it since rebuild, long story involving a replacement 4-108 and somebody who didn't know anything about engines and then somebody else who did know anything about engines and a really bad paint job that caused the whole problem.

Welcome aboard!! We are also in the middle of a refit on our Irwin 42'. As I write this, I'm trying to talk myself into getting back up on deck- which we have been fairing, filling, sanding & painting for the last 2 wks.!! As you said, its a labor of love!!

Re: hello all

Welcome aboard Bill. I had a 4-107. A Westerbeke adaptation of the Perkins and a better water pump">raw water pump arrangment. Volvo junk? Surely you jest! The Volvo 2003 made a great anchor!

Re: Hello All

Aloha and welcome aboard!

If I were in the market for an engine the 4-107 is one of my favorites. Hard to kill em.

kind regards,
