Hello All

Hello Everybody.

New guy here. My wife and I are long time boaters but have been sailing for only 3 years. We recently decided to pursue the goal of becoming liveaboard cruisers by the time I hit 50 (44 now). I'm hoping to learn alot from the members here over the next few years. I know I have lots of questions. I am working on a plan to get us there and I think the first thing to do is spend 4 -6 weeks on boat. We have never spent more than a week at a time on the water so I figured we should spend a month or so on a boat as a trial. If we still want to be on a boat after that amount of time then we should be good for a few years. I would like to do the trial in the Bahamas. We have been there before on our own boat. Or maybe the USVI/BVI. We have bareboated there for a week the last three years. Anyway, I have been enjoying the reading here the last couple of weeks and it won't be long before I start asking stupid questions

Welcome aboard, crosscr! Your plan sounds good. My wife wasn't sure she wanted to live aboard, so we charted a boat identical to ours in the Virgin Islands for two weeks. She didn't want to go home when the charter was up!

Ask away when ready--there are no "stupid questions" here. Well, maybe a couple... ...but we don't mind!

Greetings, and welcome aboard crosscr.
As Hud said, there's no really stupid questions; tho', sometimes, there may be a question based upon uninformed premises.
It sounds, to me, as though you have formulated a good Plan 'A'.

Good one Skiprjohn.

Welcome Crosscr,
The only hiccup in your plan is you might like it too much
I know people who did just what you are planning. They loved it so much they sold everyhting and jump on a boat and never looked back, this whirlwind took less than 6 months and nealy got them committed to the funny farm by their family .
So beware, the bug hits hard.

Cheers to your adventure
Erika
