Hello All!

Greetings!

new to the online community of sailors but I have spent a lifetime on the water. My father is a sailor and he taught me the most important lessons I have learned so far on the water.

I now work for a PFD company who has previously focused on the paddling industry. As I prefer to harness the power of the wind to get me from A to B I am hoping to help them design PFDs for the common sailor.

If safety is your goal I would love to hear from you. What do you look for in a PFD? Help me to design a jacket that sailors will want to wear!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Hello All!

I used to be a raft guide and a kayaker, I've got my astral on board with me now and I'm in the market for a good sailing pfd. Having never owned a "sailing" pfd I probably won't be much help, but I would love something streamlined and comfortable. I'd like to put it on like a jacket, instead of over my head. Best of luck! Don't to forget to take the ladies into consideration, boobs can be annoying and awkward in the wrong pfd. Wish I could be more help!

Re: Hello All!

Welcome here! As a former river guide too, I still have my old PFDs on board but they aren't that handy. Tough part is jacket+harness+foul weather gear and be comfortable and flexible. It's kind of hard to beat the current competition of inflatables that have harness integrated. But if you can I'll buy it! Good luck!
