Hello (again) from Clear Lake, Texas!

I've been a member here since 2012 but haven't posted anything since then. It look longer than planned, but within the past year I completed ASA 101 and various mentor sails and group sails. Well, now we jumped into the deep end and are just about closed on a '88 Catalina 30 mkii (will update profile when the deal is officially done). I've got some minor repairs to learn how to do and get completed but otherwise, she's in great condition.

We plan to get comfortable handling the boat and then introducing our 1 year old son to sailing sometime next year. We became members of the TMCA to learn as much as we can from more experienced sailors and participate in the group activities and sails around the bay and gulf coast. Eventually, we want to charter in the Caribbean and who knows what after that. Perhaps an extended sabbatical sailing the Caribbean?

Thanks!

Good luck with the new Catalina. I hope the repairs are minor and the fun is major! That's a good age to introduce you son to sailing.

I've got some leaks at a few chain plates and a few port lights, and one at the muffler raw water inlet.

I reserved a slip at Watergate. I think we visited every marina on the lake!

Congrats on the boat. Who did your survey and was the boat brokered?

Lou Stahlberg surveyed the boat and I did go through a broker, Little Yacht Sales. Captain Rick Weiler was my buyers agent.

Your high school teams do quite a number at regattas they've visited in Mississippi and Louisiana! Great teams with plenty of backup!
