Hello

Hello everyone,

This is the first internet forum I have joined so bear with me! My lady and I are planning a trip for next year. We live aboard a 100 year old Dutch Tjalk, currently in London. I am a furniture maker and she works in photography. The trip we are planning hopes to incorporate both our professions. We hope to go from Rotterdam to the Black Sea and try to set up meetings with craftsmen (and women) along the route, learn new skills and make some nice stuff. Am also planning to make components in the workshop before we set off, then glue clamp and hopefully sell them!

Anyway, i digress, this is a boating forum, so boating questions.....
Have been doing some research into this but we are both pretty green and so have lots of questions!
Qualifications, i understand we need a NAVCI + ICC, do we need additional certificates?
The Boat, it was built as a coastal vessel and we have had at sea, but what is the Danube like? We sadly no longer have the sailing rig for her and so the trip will be motor, we have a 6 cylinder Mercedes engine, about 120hp. Is this enough?
Would really like to hear from anyone else who my have done this trip and may have advice for us.
hanks for reading,

Best

Jonny + Anna

Re: Hello

Welcome aboard
I don't have answers to your questions but I'm sure someone does. You can also try reading the destination section of the forum too.
Happy adventures,
Erika

Re: Hello

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I too don't have any answers. The engine does sound large enough however.
