Talking Hello

Hi, My name is Thad and I have a boating problem I've been sailing for most of my life though mostly in boats less than 15'. A couple years ago I picked up a 22' O'Day to play around with and get a feel for something a bit larger with a cabin and engine and I loved every second I was aboard confirming that my addiction is inescapable.
I ended up selling the O'Day to feed my motorcycle habit after ending up in Tennessee for work. Well now work is taking me to Savanna, GA and I'm excited to get back on the water. I'm planning on living aboard when I get there and have a boat lined up and though she's a power boat I'm psyched to get there and back to the salt air.
I've been looking around to find a 35-45 sloop rigged, aft cockpit cruiser/racer to move up to/on to long term and would love to touch base with folks in the area regarding the likes and dislikes of their seagoing homes as well as chat about logistical and other challenges of living aboard.
One of my other long term goals is to head out on a multi day/week trip like a run to the Bahamas or Bermuda.
Looking forward to bouncing around the forums here and fueling the fire.

Thad

Sounds like you have a motorcycle problem. The move near water might help.

Welcome to CF.

One step at a time - at least you have admitted you have a problem with motorbikes, so now your life should become more manageable. Good luck with the boat hunt...

Thanks all

Thanks all for the welcome. My transfer to Savannah has just been confirmed, finally. So it'll be packing and moving activities for the next couple of weeks and after much anticipation, heading for the boat!

You are headed in the right direction. It's much safer to sail on a yacht than it is to ride on a motorcycle, at least that's the way it works in my life.

Welcome Mac and Nico>> Mac you're making the move to Savannah just in time for the weather to Really get Warm....heat index is in the low to mid 100's, very little rain. You'll truly love ole Savannah..lotta history as you may already know....just remember...don't go downstairs in the ole Pirate's House Restaurant...they say it's haunted with old Salts from long ago....

....enjoy the wind for it is free...

nicoledc109 definitely warmly welcomed!

Looking forward to getting into SAV. Not so much the heat, but excited to get back to the ocean. Spent a few days in VA Beach last week and got my toes back into salt water. Craving the trip back to open water.

fjwiley1: Looking forward to living there, many times a visitor, soon to be a live a board resident.

Hoping to find some sailboaters to link up with and hammer out exactly what I want in a sailboat. The 22 was fun to play with and confirm my addiction to boating, but looking forward to moving to a larger boat and doing some blue water work.

Thad
