Hello

Hello Everyone!
I learned of this site today and joined. I am transitioning from a landlubber/career life to a liveaboard/cruising life. Currently looking for the appropriate ketch. I look forward to learning a lot from this site and eventually providing some value-added to it.
Warm Regards,
Janetta

Welcome to the forum. Well worth a good read though as many of the subjects in the forum as possible, cause there is a wealth of data already available.

Any reason why a ketch?

Welcome aboard Janetta,

I envy you making the transition from landlubber, to live aboard. I hope to do the same. I imagine a Ketch would be a fine vessel to have as a live aboard. Having a nice roomy aft cabin would be great! What size Ketch are you looking for?

Welcome aboard -
Same question as Talbot - why a Ketch? Sounds like you are fairly new to sailing, and there are simpler rigs out there which are much easier for a beginner to master - and which often will give better performance.
You've found a good place to get answers. We can help more if you are more specific in your questions ... once you figure them out!

Welcome board

I noticed you are in Ohio. Are you planning to be a liveaboard there or are you planning on being a liveaboard and cruise elsewhere? I have found you can often get more boat for your money with a ketch. As was preciously mentioned you often have more room with an aft cabin. I look forward to hearing more about the Ketch you select and the adjustment of moving aboard.
Again welcome aboard. Dan
