Hedley Nicol Trimarans

Hi
We live on the West Coast of Canada. We have a 36' Hedley Nicol Tri. I'm interested in meeting others with similar boats and trans-oceanic experience in one.
Thank you:-)

Re: Hedley Nicol Trimarans

Had a hedley nichol tri in NZ. 2 main crtitcisms; 1 mine had no centreboards or fins so it was hopeless going up to the wind - essentially sailed sideways and made hardly any headway at all - this is rectifiable but not an easy fix. Check the boat you are looking at has fins. 2; the large deck area is pretty deadly in even moderate seas - going up to the wind it comes off the top of a swell and catches so much wind that capsize is a real and constant threat. There is no fix for this short of serious structural changes. This relegates these boats to harbour and careful coastal cruising. Not that plenty of people havent sailed them offshore but it was too scary for me.
