Happy New Year from California!

A Wonderful New Year to You!!!

I have just joined this forum and wanted to say "hi" to everyone. I live near Sausalito, California and would like to buy a liveaboard sailboat. I have a basic Red Cross sailing certificate (dinghy) and am ready to learn more. One of my brothers got me interested in sailing when he was studying at the Naval Academy at Annapolis. My dad has a diesel cabin cruiser (in Bodega Bay) so I know a bit about boats but really consider myself a novice. I love to travel and have been to some interesting places--hope to learn how to sail and do a lot more.

Happy sailing!

Welcome aboard. I'm down here in San Diego. Feel free to check out my fiancee's blog (below); she's done a pretty good job of recording boat life from her prospective.

Welcome from So. CA!!
We don't get to sail as often as we like, but have 2 long BVI charters booked for '08!!!
PM me for a spot on a boat in an informal BVI flotilla late June '08!

Interesting blog!

I took a look at your blog and it's really great! Congratulations on your plans--I wish you a very happy life together. I am a professional pianist and church organist--have played for lots of weddings!

Welcome and Happy New Year, Fiji! I also have a Red Cross Basic card. I had to jump off the boat and swim around it to get it. The Pacific is chilly.

If there's a sailing club near you that you can join, I recommend it. It gives you great experience and a chance to sail different types of boats to help you figure out what you like / don't like.

Matt

Yes, I am sure that there's a sailing club in this area. Yikes, you had to jump into the Pacific to get the card! Hope it wasn't in the winter! I was on vacation in Malibu once and was able to swim for about 10 minutes w/o freezing. The dolphins were everywhere! And they got my mind off the cold.
