Talking hallo fron the Netherlands

Hi

I am here to learn what it takes to be a good captain and suck the marrow of understanding , all there is to know about the sea, navigation, weather and which boat is best for me from you lillylivered experts.

I am an artist and dreamer who has a deep rooted fear of water because I know and respect its power and beauty. I need a place to be myself and have looked in many countries without success.

I have decided in order to get better acqainted with Europe and its open waters and to conquer my fears I should get to know them better and buy a boat.

I was shocked to read you need no skill, knowledge or prior understanding of anything sea relared to buy and sail any sort of boat and am here to arm myself before I do anything silly.

Re: hallo fron the Netherlands

Welcome Rosie,
You have the best possible training grounds (waters) available in the Netherlands to start sailing/boating.
Start small and lakes like the marker/ijsselmeer and the oosterschelde are perfect to start and learn about tides and winds while still close to marina's or anchorages of things get nasty.

Besides that the second hand boat market in the Netherlands has A LOT of bargains at the moment. Perfect place, perfect timing. Have fun!
