Greets from the Great White North

Hi all. I've been lurking for a while and figured best to get the FP over with. I am up here in Ontario, Canada living aboard an ancient 35 steel yawl hoping to point her south once the ice breaks come spring. Also a thanks for all the forum inputs, it's a huge resource and I hope perhaps I might contribute from time to time.

Fair winds! (and thin ice )

Re: Greets from the Great White North

Welcome to our comunity. We usually have cold weather but today was 50 F and cloudy, not enough breeze to really enjoy sailing. Wish you the best crusing.

Re: Greets from the Great White North

There is life after winter. I started in Thunder Bay in 2009 and now celebrating end of year here in Subic Bay, Philippines. I have a 42' steel sloop undergoing refit here (almost done) and will push off for Malaysia in 3 weeks.
Ok, I drove from TBay to Portland and sailed from there, singlehanding.
When you are really fed up (April is the cruelest) and bored, check out my blog at www.peterpowell.ca
I hope and pray never to pick up a snow shovel again.
Good luck and good traveling.
Pete

Welcome! You make me stop whining a moment about the cold in California! It's below 50*F at night & I complain. I gave up Michigan winters long ago...and my blood has thinned. Best of Luck in your voyage south!! 

Re: Greets from the Great White North

Aloha Red Sky and the other fellow Canucks that posted. Born in Hamilton, Ont. and left in 1977 and never looked back. Built a steel Van DaStat 30 up there. I remember wire brushing the metal in the dead of winter. Good luck on your voyages. This is a great forum for information.
