Greetings to All

Just a quick first post to say hi.

We are in the final stages, sea trail and survey, in the quest to buy our last/next boat. We have an accepted offer on a 1995 Tayana 48 CC that we plan on cruising for as long as we're having fun.

We will be the second and hopefully not the last generation in the family to ply the open oceans in search of the best beach bar in the world.

We are not new to sailing, but, we are new to cruising and I'm sure I'll be asking lot's of questions as time marches forward.

Re: Greetings to All

Welcome Dave and Mary to the best sailing forum anywhere and I hope all goes well with your new boat purchase (Sounds like a beauty). The best "Beach", or indeed, any other bar you will find is the next one you arrive at that has the smiling, welcoming faces of the other sailors who just got there before you arrived...And of course, if you ever find yourself near Lowestoft, feel free to stop by the Sancerre IV in the Hamilton dock and come aboard for a beer or three. (For some reason I have yet to understand, beer's are rarely consumed in pairs...)...James

Re: Greetings to All

Welcome to CF and what a great boat. I have looked at a few of them as that is the #1 boat on the girlfriends list for "the Boat". Let us know how it all works out.

Welcome Dave & Mary,

You came to the right place. You'll find highly knowledgeable and friendly people here who can help you - as they have helped me, a mere coastal cruiser - with every aspect of boat ownership, sailing and cruising.

Re: Greetings to All

Thank you for the welcome,

We head down to San Diego for sea trial and survey next Mon. and Tues.
The biggest sailboat we've owned to this point was a 30' O'Day, so when we go aboard the Tayana it seems huge. I'm sure that will pass as we get use to her.

Mary is a little nervous and thinks she might stress herself out, we so want everything to go well, wish us luck and I'll post how things go next week.
