Greetings From Washington State

Hello from Stalphyr, Ladyblade and Arodiz,

New to forums and sailing. Currently stuck on dry land and disliking it with a passion. No boat, money purse getting smaller by the day (waiting for VA to make up their minds), kids all grown and out of the house (all but one, and he wants to join us on the water). No need for large home any more. Ex-Navy (sonar tech) worked on tugs and looking to get back to the water. Glad to know that there is a place like this for us to go to and learn from others that have the same dreams as we do.

TTFN Hope to hear from you all soon.

SLA

Looking forward to your contribution...in what ever form that takes (beer is a good start)

Bummertown

We live in Bremerton. Near Seattle. (Ok well across the water from Seattle). As soon as we get my disability rating we are going to try to buy something to live on and start anchoring out since trying to find live aboard marinas with out a 10 year waiting list.

Aloha SLA,
Welcome aboard! I sailed from Hanalei, Kauai to Bremerton in '84 to meet a ship going through a yard period. Bremerton is not my most favorite place especially in the winter but it certainly was better than Norfolk/Portsmith where the ship I was on was sent to.
Waiting for the VA is never fun and hope you get what you need to survive well.
Kind regards,
JohnL

Greetings from Bremerton and welcome to the area. The weather isn't always like it's been this month! PM me if you have any local questions.

Thank you for the Warm Greetings!! We have Lived in Bremerton for the last 15 Years and I still think there is more stuff to learn about the area. So any more area knowledge is GREAT! It was hard to figure out what I did learn with my Nose to the grind stone and not looking up to smell the Pines and flowers. Now that I am Forced to take a BREAK at 39 years of age, sorta makes me sad in the fact of all that I have missed working all the time to try to get ahead. When I all I really needed to do to be happy was get back on the water with my own boat! Should have listened to the wife earler on. I might have been wiser if I would have. Erika it was my Honor to Serve My country and do my Duty and Thank you for appreciating that! Hey Captain58sailin Was Born in Anchorage Alaska on Elmendorf AFB Good to see another far northerner on here!

You Bet!
I have to confess, I am in a southern state of mind these days, I will be sailing/fishing out of Sitka next year, and if the timing is right, I'll be down your way in the fall, chasing the wily albacore. I expect that next year I will probably haul out somewhere in the Puget sound area.
