Greetings From the PNW and Chai Yen
Folks this is my first post. Mary and I have been sailing and cruising since the mid sixties starting in Hawaii with a Sunfish moving to a Sampson c-Mist "Quetzal" in the early seventies ( Bangkok to Manila ) - Bristol 40 "Impunity"1991 to 2005 and a Monk 36 trawler "Chai Yen" since the later two in the Pacific Northwest. I am a Coast Guard AUX rated Coxswain and hold a 50 ton nearcostal ticket with sail and tow ratings. I have pretty much covered the PNW from Olympia to Prince Rupert, the Queen Charlotes and both sides of Vancouver Island. This fall we were 27 days in the south sound and an additional 5 days in the San Juan Islands.
I would love to chat with fellow cruisers in the PNW area.

Hi John and welcome. We are wintering over in Bremerton having spent the fall doing the same, south sound and the SJ's. We started with our purchase in Blaine. Heading north to Ak next summer. Will look for you when we cast off next time. Come for a visit if you like. We motored so much on the flat water of the Puget Sound, we wondered if the trawler may have been better.

Folks, Since the last post I have spent 6 days in the San Juans - weathered a windy Sunday night and dined well on my son, Tom's, cooking. We are spending the winter getting the boat spiffed up for the spring and summer cruising season. 3/4th of the list is not done. Any recomendations for a quick change plate for a jabsco water pump">raw water pump? I managed to get my redone but the location and small bronze screws are in need of an upgrade. Sugestions please on how to address this issue.

Welcome aboard John! 
There are plenty of locals to get Jabsco pumps/parts around the Sound. What's the situation and what pump (mod. #) do you have? Or pictures?

Don't think I'm in the PNW area (can't be sure, cos I don't know what the PNW area is!! Pacific North West - there ya go, all I had to do was think about it. Time to go for a rest now, phew!
Welcome, sounds like you've had a fab time - and I'll see you there in a year or so!

Delmarrey, My Jabsco is the 2.5 inch impeller and I am seriously thinking of getting the sureseal cover for this in order to easily remove the cap and pull the impeler. I note from other posts that sureseal may have a slightly dark side but..... On the perlins 6.354-4M the position of the pump is easy of access and I am only trying to speed up a change and avoid 6 deformed bronze screws. My take on the sureseal thread is that over tightening the thumb screw was the origin of the problems emcountered.
Comments please.

Are you talking about a raw water pump or a propeller shaft. Sureseal is for prop shaft seals. Jabsco pumps usually have only 4 screws.

Correction I mis-spoke but really I am not a politician! I really meant a SPEEDSEAL to be installed on a Jabsco raw Water pump which does have 6 bronze screws at least there two more than the fingers on my left hand not counting the thumb. Please excuse the confusion it is 23 Degrees out today!
