Greetings from the Brig in SF Bay, CA, USA

No, I'm not writing from jail. It's the name I've chosen for my new 40 year old boat. A Santana 22. Brigg was my fathers name and he introduced me to sailing when I was a kid (40 years ago) on the San Francisco Bay in the U.S. So, while it is named the Brig, it has no ill connotations what so ever. It could as well have been named Joy.

My greeting from the moderators came with a quote:
"If you didn't have time/$ to do it right in the first place, when will you get the time/$ to fix it?"
-GordMay

Good point. I bought a boat and its 5 hours from home and I wanted to sail again, I'll find a way...

Pleased to be aboard, thank you

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to hear from the Brig. The days of bread and water and 3 days in the brig were over when I retired.
Hope you can get to the boat and get a bit of sailing done.
kind regards,

Actually that quote came from an EX-moderator (emeritus = retired). Notwithstanding, I believe he gives good advice, occasionally.
Welcome aboard the CF!

What's this about a brig? never heard of it myself. Is it an American thing, or an old man thing?

A brig is also a two-masted, square-rigged vessel, with a fore-and-aft gaff sail on the mainmast. But if your definition is the one that suits you, hey, to each his own.
