Greetings from Spain

Hola, just wanted to inrtoduce myself and say how much I have enjoyed reading ALL the forum over the past 6 months! I live on the south coast of Spain and am completely new to Sailing! I have had one sailing lesson and have followed video instruction on line. The plan is to buy a boat and to sail with a freind who has experience and papers. We hope to spend 18 months sailing perhaps from Gibraltar to Tenerife and then on to the Caribean? My purchase budget would be around 40,000 euros and from reading the forum the Valiant 40 (without blisters) seems to be ¨top of the pops¨? Anyway, that I guess is for a different thread. A big thank you to you guys who have done this for so many years and have inspired us ¨rookies¨ to do something we perhaps would not have believed was possible! Best, Pablo.

Yes, ive seen that there are not many Valiants in Europe , however I now know what style of boat I want to get, mainly thanks to some pretty expert advice from every one on here and especialy Atoll who even took the time to speak with me on the phone (thanks Alastair)! I would be grateful if you can share this link around with any of your contacts that may be interested in swapping their 40ft solid sailing vessel priced tops around 60,000 pounds towards buying the business that we have just put on the market yesterday after 20 years!! www.pubinspain.mijasgraphics.com Thank you, Best, Pablo.

Had a look on Yachtworld and there were only 2 larger Valiant 46's, both way above your budget. Best to list your 'must haves' and 'would likes' and use those as a way of comparing similar craft.

Re: Greetings from Spain

Have you considered a Passport 40? There's one in Spain right now for $124K.
