Greetings from Salvador, Brazil

I am a new member from Brazil, located in Salvador, Bahia. I sail a Brasilia 32, a cruiser/racer built in 1979 which is in pristine condition. I retired from Xerox Corporation in the end of 2009 and did 1800 miles of cruising on the Brazilian coast in 2010. I am the comodore of Aratu Iate Clube, a sailing club in the greater Salvador area with 350 members and almost as many cruising and racing sailboats.

Muito prazer, Eduardo. Meu nome' Chase, fazendiero de Carolina do Norte.

I spent part of last winter visiting Brazil with 30 other farmers on a scholarship program. We traveled throughout Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Sao Paulo. I really enjoyed my time there. One day I hope to return, with my Pacific Seacraft 34 and explore the coast.

Re: Greetings from Salvador, Brazil

Hi! Chase

I am currently marking time in Salvador waiting for a good weather window between Vitória and Rio. I am crewing for a friend taking his boat back from Salvador to Rio and will rejoin the boat in Vitória ASAP. This is a good time in the year to go South as the predominant winds are North Easterly. Hope you come by some time in the future with or without the boat. We are good hosts at my sailing club
