Greetings from Marietta, GA

I am hoping to get some valuable info. from this forum. Specifically, right now I am looking for advice / recommendations for shipping and shippers for getting a 25 ft. cruising sailboat, on a trailer from Denver to Birmingham, AL (roughly).

Probably depends on the boat. What is the weight of the boat? What is the beam? What is the draft? Is it a fixed keel, swing keel, centerboard?

The right boat and the right trailer you could move it yourself with a good sized pickup. If you are not up for the drive it could still make a lot of difference in the charge. Regular, over the road freight haulers are at least $1.50/mile but hauling a boat is usually more.

Unless this is a really special boat I think you might end up cheaper buying one at Lake Lanier or Lake Allatoona. A lot of boats there and used to see some good deals when I lived in Cumming.

You might look at uShip - The Online Shipping Marketplace - Ship Freight, Furniture, Vehicles or Moves also.

Yeah, sure I could haul it, except I have a wife who vetoed that idea.

Boat length is 25'; beam is 8'; mast is 30'; no keel ... it has a centerboard, and it's on a trailer ... total weight is approx. 5500 lbs.

Been looking at GA lakes (and lots of others); haven't seen anything that is even close to this boat ... fearures OR price.

Yes, I have posted on U-Ship ... that is where I have seen the really scary reviews. U-Ship is exactly why I am looking for reommendations.

Sorry I can't help with recommendations but it seems to me any trucking/moving company could help. That really is not a large load that requires permits or special considerations especially since its already on a trailer. How about an auto shipper?
regards,
