Greetings from Hampton Roads, Va!

Hello all, my name is R.J. I am located in Norfolk, Va. I currently do not have a boat but am watching the market closely for a 26 to 32' sailboat. I plan to purchase within a year, I need to complete the major renovation of my home that is coming to a close in a few months. My goal is to sail the Caribbean and posibly the Med after I retire (which is still a long way off 15 years or so).

A little background on me. I retired as a USN Chief Quartermaster (navigator) in 2008 an am currently a full time police diver/marine officer. I am hoping to learn as much as I can from your knowledge and maybe even contribute one day.

If anyone in Hampton Roads needs a deck hand I am looking for as much experience as I can get.

I spent a couple of years on the USS Bainbridge in Norfolk and was like a "fish out of water" having spent 22 years on the west coast before heading east.
Hope you can find your perfect sailer.
Quartermaster would have been my first choice had I known that it was all about navigation when I went into the Navy.

Welcome, I live in Richmond,VA and not too far....I was the same way I'm only 26 and still getting into sailing, a very fresh newbie and with the help of people on this forum, purchased my first sailboat last saturday (28 Foot 1980 O'Day 28)
