Greetings from Discovery Bay

Hello All,

My name is Jerry and I'm just a guy that loves boats and living on the water. I've registered here to learn as much as possible about my new interest of owning a sailing vessel. I've owned all types of powered craft over the years and have been an infrequent sailboat charterer the past 29 years. My most recent charter being last October at the interline sailing regatta in the BVIs. My first time sailing girlfriend and I chartered an Oceanis 38 and just had a helluva time. Sail by day and party by night, what's not to like?

So now the bug has bitten and plans have been initiated. So much to learn in so little time. I very much look forward to the discussions.

Cheers,

Jer

Being from Disco Bay, I guess you're gonna get pretty good at tacking.

Hello Back, and yes.....should have tacking down to a science by the time I leave!

Actually, plan is to move to a warmer saltier clime. After MANY years, I'm sooooo done with the Delta and freezing a$$ cold SF Bay. No offense to those that like it here. However, after I hang up my goggles in a few short years, it will be time to move on.

Wonder if the Aussies will have me...

Jer

Jer, the Aussies are pretty tolerant... they've let Ann and I stick around for a long time now!

So, welcome to CF and happy sailing!

Thanks Jim!

I've a few mates Down Under, in fact one of my very best friends resides in Coffs Harbour....lovely place. Alas, he's not a sailor though....power boater who likes to fish for marlin then imbibe with his mates at the yacht club. Horrible!

I've spent many a layover in SYD and a few memorable holidays up and down the coast. It's been some time since I've been, but Queensland was my favorite. I hear Port Douglas has really grown.

Too bad it's gotten so expensive now for us yanks. Oh well, GREAT place and wonderful people.

Glad they're letting you guys hang around awhile.

Cheers,

Jer
