Greetings from Cleveland

We're new here and fairly new to sailing. Trying our luck on Sandusky Bay this year. Been sailing Pymatuning Lake (Ohio/Pennsylvania border) for a few years, teaching ourselves as we go. Looking forward to new adventures here and on the water.

Re: Greetings from Cleveland

Welcome aboard, I'm sure you will find this site of immense help to you, it sure has been for me since I joined. However, as a Raven's fan, might I ask that you don't refer to Cleveland again? It's sort of a sore point with us Ravens fans (Just kidding) Safe sailing to you, James...

O.K., no more Cleveland references, but if you followed the Browns at all you'd have sent me a sympathy card...

Re: Greetings from Cleveland

I love sailing in Sandusky bay. Passing by Cedar Point from the harbor was always fun as well. Glad you are here,
Spencer

Re: Greetings from Cleveland

Be careful out there, Lake Erie is one of the most treacherous bodies of water I know of. I grew up there and it could go from serene to mean in minutes. One of the boats my father had was an 37 Egg Harbor. 16 tons of of wood, we could go from a nice cruise to having green water breaking over the fly bridge in an incredibly short time.

Regards,
Rich

OK, consider it done. I know that you will have a great time on this site; although a good sense of humour is optional, it's a great thing to have and since you clearly have one, you will have a lot of fun here as well as getting information on pretty much anything you want to know, provided of course that you hold to your promise of never again mentioning the name of that Ohio town you call home...James

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. If you've not had basic sailing lessons it would be good to have. "Start Sailing Right!" is a really good book.
kind regards,
