Greetings From Boston

Greetings! I am pretty new to the world of sailing, only been doing it for about a year but I've had a love of the ocean for my entire life.

A quick story about how I got into sailing. The wife and I needed to escape the cold New England winter in Feb. 2013 so we booked a quick trip to Tortola. I instantly fell in love with the BVI. While there I met many sailors and spent many hours cruising between Tortola, Jost and Norman and learning all I could about this amazing new world. Our one week stay was extended by five days due to a blizzard hitting the east coast. Once I got back home I made up my mind that I was going to learn to sail. I took classes at Boston Sailing Center and am now a member there. I've been getting out every chance I get, 2-3 times a week and I just chartered my first bareboat in the BVI for next April. I'm sure I will be coming back often with lots of questions and also to get ideas on other possible destinations down the road.

Welcome to CF! Norman island in the bvi is one of my favorites. Good luck on your adventures and dont get discouraged when you come to the realization that the water in Boston is a completely different color from the bvi

Re: Greetings From Boston

Welcome aboard. The BVI is awesome. I chartered a Privilege 39 catamaran in the BVI before I purchased Exit Only. Chartering before you buy is a great deal if you can find a model you like in the BVI.

Different color for sure but it's come a long way since the 80's.
