Greetings from a Flicka owner in Georgia

At age 67, I am morphing from racing dinghies (Snipes and Lasers) to cruising. I bought my Flicka 20 Jubilee in March 2008 and am gearing up for longer (probably solo) passages in the Atlantic in 2010. In the meantime, I am taking shorter trips out of Beaufort, SC. I am the founder of The Classic Boat Rally which takes place in April every year along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts and is open to sailboats of classic design in the LOA range of 15 to 24 feet haing a draft of 4 feet or less as we use the ICW. Please check out the web site www.ClassicBoatRally.com for the details. I started this while sailing a Herreshoff 12 1/2, and we rendezvous at a yacht club or marina every night after sailing about 30 miles up the ICW. If enough interest develops, we may introduce an off-shore option for classic design cruisers (not racing sport boats) up to 32 feet that could be very attractive to boats like West Sail and other pocket cruisers.

Woody:
I'm a big fan of the Flicka and the Hershoff 12-1/2 footer (sailed one off Bristol, RI once) and it would be a hoot cruising either one again along the ICW.
Fair winds.
John

Welcome aboard, Woody!

That's a fine little boat, the Flicka. Hope you enjoy the Forum.

Aloha Woody,
Welcome aboard! Flickas are great cruisers. Many have sailed here from the mainland with absolutely no problems.
kind regards,
