Greetings

I've been lurking for a while but thought I'd finally register and say hello.

My name is Mark, and I am a Toronto Ontario native. I know very little about sailing or boating, but have been studying and will be looking into getting into the lifestyle as soon as I can manage.

When I was a child, I would often go on boat trips with my grandparents in their 30-35ft (I was young, not sure exact length) cabin cruiser. Every summer they would take me out for a week or two, traveling on the lakes and generally having a wonderful time. In my late teens, unfortunate circumstances put a wedge between us and I have not been on a boat since until this summer, when I was on a speedboat with some friends at their cottage. It reminded me just how much I loved being on the water, how comfortable it made me feel. I miss the times spent on my grandparents cabin cruiser and am looking to revisit the good times I had and make many more of my own. I am looking to learn how to sail (largely because sails offer better fuel economy) and I am interested in doing a lot of traveling as I gain more experience.

I am currently a junior 3D animator, and as I establish myself within the industry, I will continue to increase the number of freelance work I can get (freelance work largely being over then internet, and thus independent of the location I'm in). This will help to grant me the time to travel.

I know it will take me several years to get into the lifestyle, with learning to sail and navigate, earning enough for a club membership/boat/supplies , winters, etc, but one has to start somewhere, and so, here I am, starting my journey.
