Greeting from Breizh

Hi everyone,

I have just joined in the community. Enthusiastic sailor and electronic tech I would try helping on testing the OpenCPN software, provide some test platform if possible and of course some real feedback of its operation in open ocean.
Cheers
Pierre

Re: Greeting from Breizh

Welcome, Pierre!

Breizh, both North and South, is one of my most favorite cruising areas in the entire world. Magical!!

Bienvenue Pierre, my guess is that more then 90% of CF-readers have no idea where Breizh is located. Dockhead must be in the 10% .

Breizh = Brittany, of course! French Atlantic coast from the middle of the Bay of Biscay to the Cotenin Peninsula (border with Normandy) in the English Channel (AKA La Manche).

A magical, magical place to sail. North Brittany is wild, rocky, desolate in many places, with huge tides, magnificent scenery, and challenging sailing. Once you're past Ushant (Oessant), there's more civilization, but still beautiful and wonderful.

And of course everywhere wonderful food and nice people.

Brittany is no secret to us Channel sailors, of course

Re: Greeting from Breizh

I dream of sailing that coast...used to sit on a porch at Tregestel and watch tunny boats with tanbark sails ghost in and then leave as the ebb utterly transformed the coast. Then St Malo is fascinating...The Rance up to Dinan. Perros Gerec(sp) Amazing place. One night touring soynd installation in Mont St.Michel catacombs of chapels and work rooms to arrive on a terrace overlooking what was once very much a Breton sea. thanks for the reminder and welcome!
