Pat "NeverMonday" sail that A/C is a very nice thing to have in the south. Between the heat and bugs you will want to use it.

Hey, I'm in the south, certainly don't need it, but it has reached a heady temperature of -6 deg C today so far. Might need to crank it up soon.

Ah, I was already going there with the no AC onboard... one less EXPENSIVE thing to break. I thought there might be a demand for people who knew how to fix and diagnose AC problems for those people with it. So I can change it from and expense to an occasional income.

Oops, now I read your post properly.
Like your thinking, planning to bit of the same sort of stuff myself just so it doesn't detract from the sailing.
