Getting Ready to Circle the World

Hi All!

I've posted on a few threads so far, but figured I'd post here and officially introduce myself to the community at large. My wife and I have just signed the contract for a Fountaine Pajot Helia 44, which we will christen Starry Horizons. The plan right now is to pick her up at the factory in France in Oct/Nov of 2014, sail her back to Florida for final commissioning with our dealer, and then we will take off to circle the world!

My wife and I both have our 100 Ton Masters License and are upgrading from a MaineCat30 for this adventure. In our spare time, we enjoy captaining some of the dinner cruise boats near us. I'm amazed at the knowledge on this forum and it just goes to show you can always learn something new, no matter how long you've been on the water. I look forward to learning from you all and sharing our experiences where we can.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I've been learning a lot thanks to this forum, and getting even more excited about our adventure. Unfortunately, all that excitement seems to make our wait feel even longer!

Hi Navegante. Thanks for the offer. We haven't spent much time figuring out our path across the Atlantic to deliver the boat to Miami for final commissioning, but if we go through the Canaries, we'll be sure to let you know. Otherwise, it might be a few years before we make our way back that way again!
