Gettin' our Feet Wet...

So we're finally taking the plunge!!..and the first step toward a life aboard. Just finishing up the deal this week (knock on teak) on a wonderfully kept '73 Hughes-25. :-D
Now comes the steep learning curve of fun...anyone on here know how to tie a 'bowline'? ;-)

My Grandmother taught me most of my knots!

Welcome "aboard" to the world of boat ownership. (that lot pretty much covers it!).

lol, nice! Actually I've got the knot thing in hand. Apps, practice rope, links. etc
Looking forward to the whole adventure. Just pocket cruising on the weekends/eves up here on the St. Lawrence for now; Our training grounds I guess. Almost too excited to sit down!

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here and congratulations on the "new" boat. Let us know if you have questions. Yes on the bowline. Most useful knot ever.
kind regards,

Welcome to the forum.

Rule of thumb for knot tying ... if you aren't good at it, then just tie lots.

lol, got the bowline and several others now too.
We just craned-in on Friday at the club. Mast went up today with some unsolicited, but greatly appreciated help from other members! Will be tuning up the rigging, setting up the radio and gps mount on Monday, along with a good first 'in the water' scrub down.
Most importantly though we had our first sundowner aboard tonight!! Biggest moon of the year and it was gorgeous!
Not living aboard her as we still have other obligations, but looking forward to doing so with our 'forever' boat.
Learned a ton over the weekend 'hands on', and as always we're scouring this site for info on everything.
Thanks for the welcome aboard all! Looking forward to chatting with and meeting as many of you as we can.

M&C

ps. we haven't even made it out of the bay or raised a single sail yet...but we're hooked; good, bad, or in between, we're in for the long haul.

Re: Gettin' our Feet Wet...

Our sailing teach showed us a bunch of knots today (day 1) but told us we'd be just fine to learn a couple basics and always use them so that's our strategy.
